LearnAhead Ltd was founded and registered in London in October 2011 to  help people learn languages more effectively and have fun.

Language learning for most people requires time and effort. It usually means attending classes and following structured courses. There are no short cuts. We can’t change that, but our first app, Word Carrot exploits the convenience and functionality of mobile devices to help learners develop their vocabulary on the move using nuggets of free time.

Learners are motivated to persist because it is fun, and the personalised tracking, “test” and “bonanza” routines gives them a sense of progression. Our seasonal and topical wordsets help teachers to encourage their students to use the game to pre-learn or practise vocabulary used in class, along with supplementary materials provided on the Word Carrot website (these can also be printed out for learners who don’t have iPhones).

All this combined helps the learner and the teacher overcome the biggest barriers to success, lack of motivation and persistence in the development of core skills and vocabulary.
